FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q.Why choose Beverley?
A. She is a very experienced teacher with a great deal of examination experience. She works independently and her costs include a programme tailored to the individual needs of your child, resources and travelling to and from your home.

Q. Where will the tuition take place?
A. Beverley will teach your child in your own home, as long as it is in the area of West London that she covers. A quiet room with table/desk and chairs is needed. Beverley will not teach a child in his/her bedroom. An adult will be expected to remain in the house for the duration of each session.

Q. Can I stay in the room with my child while Beverley is teaching my child?
A. Yes. It is often a good idea for the parent/carer to be present when a child starts home tuition. This gives you an idea of the work that is being covered and how your child is learning. There are times, however, when it can be inhibiting, or distracting, for a child to have another adult in the room.

Q. How far will Beverley travel?
A. Beverley will travel to many areas in West London, including: Chiswick, Brentford, Isleworth, Southall, Norwood Green, Cranford, Heston, Hounslow, Bedfont, Feltham, Twickenham, Richmond, Teddington, Hampton, East & West Molesey, Sunbury, Ashford and Staines. If you live outside this area, contact Beverley to find out if she would travel further & if there would be an additional charge.

Q. How do I pay for the tuition?
A. You can pay by cash or cheque. After the initial assessment, payment is made in advance. Half the total fee is paid before the tuition starts and the remainder is to be paid half way through the programme.

Q. Can I choose the day/s and time/s of the tuition?
A. Yes, if the slot you would like is available. It is best to keep to the same day and session time each week.

Q. Can my child have more than one session a week?
A. Yes, if the slots you would like are available. It can be useful to have an intensive programme over a short space of time. This is something that you could discuss with Beverley after the initial assessment.

Q. When will I get feedback from the initial assessment?
A. You will get immediate feedback on the day of the assessment. The assessment itself will take approximately 1 hour & 15 minutes, which allows 15 minutes for Beverley to make her initial judgements and discuss them with you.

Q. How can I know that my child is benefiting from private tuition?
A. Beverley will provide you with regular feedback on your child’s progress. In the unlikely event that your child is not making noticeable progress, she will discuss the possible reasons for this with you and your child and agree a course of action.

Q. What feedback will I receive once the tuition is underway?
A. You will receive a progress report at the end of each session. This will include comment on progress made and targets for future sessions; targets will be monitored and discussed with you and your child.

Q. What if I decide I don’t want to continue with the programme?
A. You will receive a partial refund if there is a genuine reason for not continuing. The amount refunded will depend on the number of sessions already taught.

Q. Is it possible for Beverley to teach more than one child at the same time?
A. Yes, if their needs are compatible. You will receive a discount of 20% for each child as they will receive less individual attention in the sessions, although they will all receive individual progress reports.

Q. Is it possible to book a longer programme?

A. It’s advisable to see how things go before committing to a lengthy programme. You can always book further sessions to follow on immediately from the initial programme after discussion with Beverley.
