Functional Skills

From 2010 it will not be possible to obtain a pass at C or above in English without also passing the Level 2 qualification in English Functional Skills! The skills aquired enable students to apply their knowledge and understanding to everyday life and to engage competently and confidently with others.To obtain a Level 2 pass, students will have to independently engage with complex tasks in both familiar and unfamiliar situations and demonstrate a range of reading, writing, speaking and listening skills, with a high level of technical accuracy.

Tuition will cover the range of skills necessary to obtain a pass at Level 2, including a variety of tasks that will help students to recognise techniques used by different writers, thus developing the ability to use these skills effectively themselves.
